Packing your lunch just combined functionality with a fresh take on packing your food to work or school. Meeting all your needs, the To-Go Ware Action Pack is attractive, affordable, and essential to your eco-needs.
To-Go Ware was founded by Stephanie Bernstein, who was inspired by college students who carried their reusable coffee mugs around with them. She was inspired to encourage others to use more durable and reusable methods for food and beverage, with “on-the-go” convenience and staying sustainable to the planet.
The result? To-Go Ware, a bevy of solutions for packing your food and drink “to-go”. The company’s mission to a balance of a commitment to human rights, the environment, sustainable economics, quality, and transparency, all of which are outlined on their mission found at their website.
We believe that To-Go Ware delivers essentials that are truly unique, and the Action Pack covers the corners of packing your food in a convenient and eco-friendly way (and it looks cool, too).
To-Go Ware Action Pack
This pack brings their 2-Tier Stainless Steel Tiffin Set with sidekick and Bamboo Utensil Set together, with a carrier bag included. The bag’s comfy recycled cotton has a homey softness of your favourite lived-in sweater – while keeping the scrap that they use for it out of the landfills – and are finished with natural dyes. It also provides a layer of insulation to keep your tiffin safer from the elements.
We love the adjustable strap, perfect for slinging around our own shoulders, or shortening to fit the shoulders of our little ones.
The 2-tier food container (which is also available in 3-tiers) lets you take two separate dishes with the convenience of a single container. The namesake, tiffin, hails from India, and is an all-in-one, lightweight way to bring your favourite foods with you.
Through some lunch taking and testing, we definitely have decided it’s leak proof, regardless is our contents were warm or cold.
On that note, we love that the container can pack hot or cold foods, and the stainless steel design maintained the heat long enough to provide us with a still warm lunch. It also comes with a removable plate and a “sidekick”. This little container has a capacity of 1/2 a cup (4oz.), perfect for a serving of yogurt, a handful of trail mix, hummus for your veggies, or some salad dressing.
Alongside the tiffin is a Bamboo Utensil Set, providing a reusable way to bring your cutlery along with you (without taking a few from your kitchen collection). The set is made from bamboo (which we’ve discussed our love for a few times already). A renewable material, it doesn’t stain, absorb flavour, and is perfectly reusable. The fork easily stabs at raw fruits and vetables, and the spoon’s curve lets in ample mouthfuls of your favourite soups. We like the wide knife – perfect for spreading our nut butters onto crackers. And the chopsticks are a great bonus for those meals that require a little Asian flair. Oh…And we think it looks better than our collegue’s plastic alternatives.
The fork, spoon, knife and set of chopsticks are housed inside a compact, portable utensil holder, in three different designs, WEAVE (Women’s Education for Advancement and Empowerment), a Fair-Trade company that hand-makes a line of high-quality crafts by Burmese refugee women living in camps along the border, CONSERVE, an NGO (non-governmental organization) project in India that makes them from plastic bags, and RePEat, which reuses plastic water bottles (RPET).
We received the CONSERVE version. CONSERVE employs poor urban individuals in east Delhi to collect, sort, weigh, and clean plastic, discarded bags. The plastic melts together through a heating and pressing process, creating a more durable material. The result? Colorful, sustainable designs with no dyes or inks. The Utensil Set fits snugly inside a specially designated pocket in the carrier.
Company bonus points!
We love that To-Go Ware offers private label opportunities, perfect for companies to think twice about opting for plastic alternatives in their own businesses. We also really dig the button reminding everyone to Reduce Your Forkprint.
