earth-hourWhat is Earth Hour?
Earth Hour began two years ago in Sydney, Australia, when 2.2 million homes, businesses, and the like shut off their lights for one hour. In 2008, it turned global when 50 million people switched off their lights.

When is it?
Tonight, March 28th, at 8:30pm local time.

What’s new for 2009?
Earth Hour has a goal this year of 1 billion people switching off their lights as part of a global vote. “Unlike any election in history, it is not about what country you’re from, but instead, what planet you’re from,” they explain. “VOTE EARTH is a global call to action for every individual, every business, and every community. A call to stand up and take control over the future of our planet.” And it’s just as easy as shutting off your lights from 8:30pm to 9:30pm.

And after the fact?

Drop us an email to tell us how you participated in Earth Hour, and what you did. We want to know the ways you celebrated, whether you lit candles and played boardgames, went for a walk, stargazed, or cuddled with your significant other.
