With the weather still at its prime, each glorious day is perfect for a little golf. And the best excuse? Hit the links a little greener with a high-performance golf ball that’s better for the planet.
Dane Platt and William Carey of Dixon Golf have launched Dixon Earth Golf Balls, a high-performance golf ball free of heavy metals that are found in standard alternatives.
This is the world’s first 100% eco-friendly golf ball, made exclusively from recyclable polymers.
They’re designed to be green, as well as performance enhancing, aiming to be a top ball on the market.
In addition, the company has eco-driven initiatives to promote being greener on the green. Their incentive? Trade in your old Dixon ball for a $1 ball-for-ball credit to purchase new ones. No Dixons? No problem. You still get a 50-cent credit for trading in other brands.
The company also has hats made of recycled plastic bottles, and soon plan to launch golf shirts made out of bamboo and recycled plastic bottles , and the Dixon Fire, another high-performance golf ball.
The balls run $25-$40, depending on the retailer that sells them. The golf ball is said to be faster than leading competitors with 392 dimples for accurate, longer distance shots.
Dixon balls are sold at 11 retailers in Arizona as well as in 15 countries. Golfers can recycle old golf balls at Dixon Golf recycling centers at stores where the brand is sold.
