The researchers at the Norwegian University of Science and Technology (NTNU) and the Centre of International Climate and Environment Research – Oslo (CICERO) have developed an analysis tool to compare the carbon footprint of different countries.

carbon-footprint-1This comparison offers a way to understand the role of consumption that is causing climate change, and the comparison through different nations.

It’s not surprising of the overall results – the US, for example, tops the list with Australia and Canada next in line. Countries such as Malawi and Mozambique were among the least.

The main differences that lay among the nations are what their largest contributor to their carbon footprint is: food, for example, was highlighted in lower-income countries whereas the consumption of manufactured goods reigned supreme.

You can try the calculator here to see where you rank, and explore their website to see all of the results from the study.
